Why Should You Read 10 Times After Receiving E-Mail from PayPal

I was quite shocked when I logged into my e-mail. I just received an e-mail from PayPal saying that my account will be suspended due to some errors after received $200++ from a client. “What the ****?” I just received a fund and why should my account be suspended?! I’m doing a real business but why should I get this penalized? The e-mail sounds like this:

From: PayPal
Subject: Notification of Security Measures
Dear PayPal Member,

During our regularly schedule account maintenance and verification we have detected a slight error in your billing information on file with PayPal.
This might be due to either following reasons:

- A recent change in your personal information (i.e. change of address)
- Submitting invalid information during the initial sign up process.
- An inability to accurately verify your selected option of payment due an internal error within our processors.

Therefore your account has been temporarily suspended. We need you to confirm your identity in order to regain full privileges of your account.

If this is not completed by July 21, 2006, we reserve the right to terminate all privileges of your account indefinitly, as it may have been used for fraudulent purposes. We thank you for your cooperation in this manner.
To confirm your identity please follow the link below:

Thank you for your patience in this matter.

PayPal - Customer Service

Please do not reply to this e-mail as this is only a notification. Mail sent to this address cannot be answered.

After I read it, some info from this mail might be right. Due to my situations, sometimes I checked my PayPal account at my college and sometimes at my hometown. So, maybe the changes of IP address might be the problem. Maybe I should change all the info as asked.

I clicked at the link provided which was directed to some unknown address,

http://ads-71-132-90.safdsdgsd.dsl.fdgsdgfhdf.gdfhfgsg.net (not a real link)

For the first time, I never noticed the address. Luckily, I was at UTP right now, the link couldn’t be opened. I tried opening http://www.paypal.com using new window and nothing went wrong. I logged-in through my account and found that no notification from PayPal that my account was suspended. I figured that someone has tried to steal my PayPal fund. Thousand thanks to UTP’s IT Department for blocking some addresses. Hehehe.

So, be aware when you receive an e-mail from PayPal, or any merchant providers. A good advice for you and me, better to read the e-mail 10 times when receving e-mails similar like this than to read it once and being cheated. Cheers!

P/s: For the PayPal scammers, please check your word before cheating others. It’s “indefinitely”, not “indefinitly”.

Ya. Don’t click on any links from emails that ask you to ‘UPDATE’ your PnC account. Just another phishing attempt for PayPal.. and luckily you realized.

I got tons of similar Piching emails about PayPal and eBay and I am sick of it.. Make sure the URL has “https://” notice the “s” for security. If anything, always login your paypal or eBay account from the original website.

I also got tons of spam mail like this, one of them even link to the maybonk.com.my and they are trying to steal my maybank account

Paypal should do something about this type of security risk. I kept forwarding them these kind of emails and I’ll get a nice thank you email back and a month later I will get these emails again. Sad Case la.

That is very kind of you, Mr. Jag Senghera. Everybody, give this nice guy a big HUGGGGGG!! :D

There are so many ways to Scam people on the net..no matter u used what kind of payment processor..

The only thing we can do is..read the mail..n ignore them..otherwise we’ll be regret..u know what i mean.. ;)

yes. I’m always wary of this emails as I use their service too…Vigilance is important
